Tteokbokki
A sweet and spicy Korean street food made with rice cakes, fish cake, and a small amount of vegetables. It is made by adding gochujang (red pepper paste) and malt syrup to the mixture.
Be careful as the level of spiciness varies in each store.
Hotteok
A bread that is fried with a filling of honey and nuts inside.
The name "Hotteok" comes from the Korean pronunciation of "Hohoh" because it is enjoyable to blow on the hot filling. During the Imo rebellion, a group of Qing dynasty soldiers arrived in Korea, and Qing dynasty merchants who followed them began to sell this food in Korea.
Eomuk
A food made by mixing and solidifying fish meat. It has a chewy texture that is attractive.
Pulbbang
A flower-shaped bread filled with red bean paste. It is crispy on the outside, but it is best eaten immediately because it becomes soft over time.
Delimanjoo
A soft bread with custard cream inside. It is usually sold in subway stations, and people tend to buy it because of its delicious smell.
Takoyaki
A Japanese street food that is also sold in Korea. It is chewy because it contains octopus or squid inside the batter.
Roasted Sweet Potato
Unlike sweet potatoes eaten at home, it is sticky and sweeter.
Dalgona Candy
A Korean candy that became more famous due to the Netflix series Squid Game. Some Dalgona stores will give you one more if you successfully cut it to the shape on top.
Bungeo-ppang
A type of pulbbang that originated from Japan's Taiyaki. Usually, custard cream or red bean paste is inside the pastry. Some stores also sell pizza, chocolate, and other flavors.
It is usually sold on food trucks only during the winter season.
Egg bread
Bread that is baked by putting a whole egg inside. It is a distinctive feature of egg bread that it actually contains an egg, unlike bungeo-ppang.
Spiral Potato
A food made by cutting potatoes into a spiral shape, skewering them, and frying them, then sprinkling various sauces on top according to your preference.
Cup rice
A type of rice bowl dish in which rice and various toppings are placed in a plastic or paper cup. The type of cup rice varies depending on the toppings that are placed on top.
There are many places near 'Noryangjin Station' in Seoul that sell cup rice.
